Christian Festivals in Goa
Goa is a home to many churches, which signifies the second largest majority of Christians after Hindus. Many Christian festivals are celebrated with splendor and delilght. Some major Christian Festivals in Goa are namely as Christmas, Good Friday, St. Xavier's Feast, Bonderam and the Margao Feast.
Christmas
Like anywhere else in the world, Christmas in Goa is celebrated with great joy and festivity. 25th December is the birthday of Jesus Christ. All the shops and houses are decorated and glittered with light. In this festival, children in particular look forward to receiving gifts.
Good Friday
The Goan Catholics celebrates the holy day called “Good Friday” with great veneration. The celebration observe the occasion of Good Friday in genuine veneration. The celebration of Good Friday extends upto Sunday, usually. Panaji, the capital city is the main venue where you can admire and enjoy the occasion to the fullest.
Bonderam
The Bonderam festival is celebrated on the fourth Saturday of August every year. The festival of Bonderam is celebrated at Divar Island, which is located 12 kilometers from Panaji. The natives of Goa observe this festive day as a mark of anti Portuguese protest in Goa.
Margao Feast
Margao is the marketable center of Goa and is the venue where Margao Feast is being celebrated in the end weeks of May, every year. People from all round the globe used to come here to indulge themselves in feasting and celebration.
Feast of the Three Kings
Every year, numbers of devotees gather at the chapel of Nosa Senhora dos Reis to pray to Our Lady of Immaculate Conception. It celebration is made to pay tribute to three kings. During this festive occasion mass number of devotees used to offer prayer followed by rejoice and grand feasting.
