Feast of Saint Peter & Saint Paul
The feast of Saint Peter and Saint Paul is held on June 29 every year. It is a popular Christian festival that is celebrated by the fishing community particularly in Bardez taluka. In general, this festival is celebrated at the monsoon time by the fisherman villages situated along the northern coast of Goa.
The village peoples of Goa used to tie their boats together to form rafts. On these rafts they erect models of Chapels or Churches. During this festival, folk dances and music are performed that the major highlights of the Christian festival.
Those rafts carrying the models of Chapels or Churches slowly float down the river up to the Chapel of St. Peter. To make the celebration more entertaining, fire works are set off at each stop.
