Good Friday is a major festival of the Christian. It is celebrated with devotion by the Goan Catholics. It is celebrated at the end of the period of Lent. Good Friday is followed by Easter Sunday. Goan celebrates this festival with a mass procession almost in every church. But Panaji, the capital city of Goa witness the celebration ceremony. In Panaji, you can witness a spectacular celebration in the square of the Church of Mary Immaculate Conception. The Goan does participate in this celebration with great jest and zeal, wearing formal clothes.
The priests used to describe the sufferings of Lord Jesus Christ. Then the ceremony of procession takes place. An image of Jesus Christ is taken in the procession. The people of Goa used to walks in two parallel lines in front and behind the statue. Suitable sober music is being played by a band accompanying the procession.
