Ram Navami in celebrated with great pomp and show all over India. This colourful festival is celebrated on the occasion of birthday of Lord Rama, the divine ruler of Ayodhya. This festival starts in the beginning of Hindu New Year Calendar, i.e. on the 9th day of expanding moon. It is one of the major festivals of Goa.

Goan too celebrates Ram Navami with great enthusiasm. The devotees used to pray in the early sunrise after having a bath. The devotees used to sing devotional prayer in the praise of lord Rama. As on rest parts of India, Ram Navami in Goa is celebrated for a long period of nine days. Each and every Hindu temple in Goa are decorated and adorned with flowers on the occasion of Ram Navami.

The Goan believes that this holy festival brings happiness and stillness to ones’ life. In Southern Goa, thousands of followers get together and take active part in this festival. This pious day is celebrated as the birth of Lord Rama. The peoples of Goa keep fasting and observe prayers in his owner. The colourful festival in Goa marks the arrival of happiness in the lives.
